It’s always an important factor to be on your game before the whistle blows for the first serve. We want to be prepared and ready for our matches. Remember the first impressions you make when we walk through the doors of the gym. So, what are some things we can do before even walking into the gym as an official to be prepared? Here are a few tips of how to be on our G.A.M.E. before it even starts:
G= GREET
Ticket table (turn in completed paperwork), administrator, coaches, co-official, line judges
A= ATTIRE
TASO white collared shirt, black slacks, black socks, black shoes, black belt, clothing fits appropriately
M= MANAGE time
Coin toss, warm ups, rosters, lines people, table personnel duties, lineups
E= EQUIPMENT
Whistle, flags, red/yellow cards, lineup cards, coin, pen/pencil, net chain, air gauge
Packing our bag of equipment and making sure our uniform is completely ready the night before a match will save a lot of time on game day as well. I even keep these things in my car on non-game days because you never know when you will be needed to call a match. Wouldn’t it be nice to not have to try and go home to get your uniform before the match? Let’s be prepared this season by being on our “G.A.M.E.” before the game.
